Washington, DC [US]: US President Donald Trump once again strongly defended his tariff policy, calling “tariff” his “most beautiful word” and stressing that America is finally being treated fairly after years of economic exploitation by other nations.
“I adore tariffs. The most exquisite word… My favorite word is tariff. We’re getting really rich,” Trump said, while addressing his administration’s trade agenda.
The President argued that foreign nations had taken advantage of the US “for years and years,” but his administration’s policies were reversing the trend. “Trillions of cash have come in. Our wealth has returned. Other countries exploited us for years, but now we are treating them fairly,” he said.
Trump also noted that US tariff revenues had recently amounted to $31 billion, adding that such funds could “buy several warships.”
Film Industry and New Tariff Announcements
On September 29, Trump announced a 100% tariff on all films produced outside the United States, accusing foreign countries of “stealing” America’s film-making business. “Other countries have stolen our movie-making business from the United States of America, just like stealing candy from a baby,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. He specifically blamed California’s “inept and feeble governor” for the decline of Hollywood’s global dominance.

To counter this, Trump said the 100% tax on foreign films would restore America’s lost ground in cinema. “RESTORE AMERICA’S GREATNESS!” he concluded.
Targeting the Pharmaceutical Sector
Earlier, on September 26, Trump had declared that starting October 1, 2025, his government would impose a 100% tariff on branded and patented pharmaceutical products unless manufacturers set up production facilities inside the United States.
Ongoing Legal Battle
Trump acknowledged that his administration’s tariff policies are facing a challenge before the Supreme Court, but expressed confidence. “We have a significant issue before the Supreme Court, but I find it hard to comprehend given what other countries have done to us,” he remarked.
The remarks further underline Trump’s reliance on tariffs as both an economic and political tool as he continues to frame his trade policies as essential to protecting American industries and restoring national wealth.
